~General Information about the Class~
The Listening Prayer Laboratory is a 8 week class taught by Tim Morris.
We will be exploring the process of entering into listening prayer as a daily part of your life. We will approach listening prayer as a skill that you can develop, much like how we learn to do something common like ride a bike or learn to read at a young age…incrementally and celebrating the small victories along the way. We will be using an organic method and process I have been developing to help us to listen to God’s voice.
In as much as possible I will accomodate your schedules and area where you live for the location of the class.
I have taught workshops and different teaching sessions to a college campus group, a high school youth group, a church, and individuals. Each and every time I am able to help someone hear God’s voice I am astounded at the regularity of God’s tenderness, consistency, and passion for people to hear Him once we learn how to posture ourselves to hear Him.
As someone who has helped many people hear God’s voice I will confess I am most excited when people run into what I call “listening walls” and struggle to hear little or anything at all from God. It is my belief and experience that God heals and brings powerful transformation through the process of learning to hear His voice.
~Community~
On your own you will learn very slowly how to hear God’s voice, if you ever do much at all. Within this class we will experience the power of numbers in community to both learn experientially from each other and test the content of what we hear through Biblical compatibility and circumstances. We will be exploring themes that God has woven through our times together. We will listen with each other and for each other. Listening this way will most likely build up your confidence rather quickly in both God and what you are hearing. When 8 people hear an identical statement or is very similar faith/trust builds in us to explore, try, and risk more.
~Multiplication~
I am passionate about spreading the Good News that the Triune God speaks today and is alive! If you believe you are gifted as a teacher you will be welcome and encouraged to multiply anything I am teaching that is worth its salt. Read more about “multiplication” in our values page for more information on this.
~Cost~
At School on the Way are attempting to cause a tidal wave of shift in theological education towards those who cannot afford it (without going into debt) which nowadays is honestly most of us. Instead of setting fixed fees for this course I am going to offer another paradigm of payment…spirit-led payment. In the spirit of 1 Cor 9 I am going to give you a contract on the first day of class to sign to commit to listening to God within the community of the class for the amount God would have you give as the cost of the course for you. He may ask you to give $5, $100, $200, $500, $1,000, vegetables from your garden, time performing a skill/trade, etc… I don’t know what or how much He will ask you to give, but I do know God will provide for us and knows what we are honestly able to give and even sacrifice at any point in our life. Obviously, I am taking a risk here trusting that you will be faithful to listen, but I think this is exciting and worth the risk! Further, I realize that for some or all of you taking this class you will be a bit uneasy about having to trust what you believe you may hear as what to give for the course. This is where the beauty and power of the community of this course comes in because we will listen together about this, including me, to test what you may be hearing. I will ask you about half way into the course to listen for this, so I will be working for over a month with you without pay and that is okay with me.
~Location and Time of Class~
At this point I have one location in Lakewood set for the end of August and another possible location that I am looking into. I am open to people hosting a class anywhere across the Denver Metro area and will be willing to offer a substantial discount, based on the Lord’s direction, if you do host the class. I would like to work with everyone’s schedule to determine a good day of the week and time of the day to meet.
Availability for Current Classes:
I will be available in May to start one or more concurrent classes. If you are interested in attending one or hosting one contact me either through email or phone below.
